MC4MS (Medical Cannabis for Multiple Sclerosis) Names New Executive Director
Daron Cooper has joined MC4MS (Medical Cannabis for Multiple Sclerosis) as the new Executive Director.
Cooper, will oversee all aspects of the organization which has entered its second year. Coming to MC4MS as a Registered Nurse for 10 years as well as being diagnosed with RRMS in 2014, she brings a perfectly targeted perspective to the group. Cooper’s experience as an RN includes Dermatology, Cardiac ICU, Psychiatry, and Managed Care. She is an advocate for the Medical Cannabis programs in New Mexico as well as Texas.
“When I was diagnosed with MS, it changed my life in one of the best ways possible. It made me think about what I really wanted to do in life, what my passions were. I started to focus and learn more about natural remedies not just for MS but for all medical issues. Medical Cannabis has always been a passion of mine. I have witnessed firsthand what medical cannabis can do for those in pain, with anxiety, with opioid addiction, and more and it is amazing. I’m very much looking forward to working with MC4MS to spread the word about the benefits of medical cannabis to the MS community”, said Cooper.
“I am delighted to hand the keys of MC4MS to Daron,” said Celeste Miranda, Founder of MC4MS. I am certain her energy, professionalism, commitment to health and love of helping others will enrich us all enormously. Her connections to the medical side of things will also further deepen our interdisciplinary ties and reinforce our commitment to the link between health and medicinal cannabis.”
Cooper will take over for Amira Albonni, who served as the first Executive Director for the launch of MC4MS. Albonni has left the organization to pursue scholastic goals.
Medical Cannabis for Multiple Sclerosis is the first of its kind to focus on the intersection of MS and cannabis. The organization brings together leading experts and practitioners from the public and private sectors to address cutting-edge questions of medical cannabis regarding Multiple Sclerosis and to train the next generation of top health leaders, policymakers, and academics.
